Beauty And The Beast (La Belle et la Bête)
Thanks to Maria, I found out bout Poets Who Blog Interactive. One of the challenges, Lyrics and Verse Challenge, is to write a poem commencing with any one line taken from the song I’m Your Man by Leonard Cohen. A quick revisit to a well known children story.
Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la Bête)
The beast can’t go to sleep
As his thoughts wander too deep
Too many questions arose in his mind
Answer to them none can he find
Accompanied by talking house holds
Too much of the beast never being told
“Never tell a book by the cover,
Have they never heard of it”, he wonders
Things changed when a merchant visited his castle
Entered without knowing whether it’s permissible
After enjoying the hospitality given
He picked the loveliest rose in the garden
“It’s for my daughter”, he tried to explained
But the furious beast can’t be tamed
“Exchange your daughter for the rose”,
Reluctantly he agrees to this undesired purpose.
Belle is now staying with the beast
Being treated as a special guest that she is
As time passed by she got home sick
The beast allowed her to have a quick
Visit to her family back home
But jealousy conquers her sisters’ heart of stone
Feigning tears to hold her longer
Which eventually leads to a disaster
As she arrived to the castle it was too late
The beast is now being almost dead
Broken heart as the weapon
She feels this sin is non-forgiven
Her tears dropped on the dying monster
And he transformed into the looks before he met her
Curse is now broken by her unconditional love
By her the hideous beast have never being shoved
Now being a handsome prince he is
With a lovely princess by his side
In his life he can now feel bliss
And it helps for him to sleep at night.
